At the March 16, 2015 PALC luncheon meeting, Patrick Kennedy and Wick Allison presented their vision and views on the redevelopment of the elevated highway, IH345, that defines the eastern boundary of downtown Dallas. They offered an independent study that was begun 2 years ago to explore the economic, environmental, and traffic impacts of removing the freeway as it approached the end of its structural life span.
Patrick Kennedy is the executive Editor of StreetSmart-D Magazine, a daily blog under the D Magazine banner. He is the president of the North Texas Chapter of the Congress for New Urbanism and a Board Member of the Friends of Fair Park. He is recipient of numerous awards including the Dunnian Media Award – 2013.
Wick Allison, a native Dallasite and sixth-generation Texas, co-founded D Magazine in 1974. He is the principal owner of People Newspapers, which he purchased in 2003. In 2011, he was named president and CEO of the American Ideas Institute, publisher of The American Conservative.
