Special Agent Allyn Lynd Bio

January 30, 2018 News, Speakers

Supervisory Special Agent Lynd is a 1989 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point. He served for eight years in the Air Cavalry, including a tour in Operation Desert Storm. SSA Lynd left the Army
for the FBI in March 1997.
When the FBI formed a regional Cyber squad in Dallas in 1998, he was one of the Agents chosen to participate. SSA Lynd worked on the Cyber squad, investigating computer hackers, theft of trade secrets, cyber terrorism, cyber extortion, copyright and trademark infringements, identity theft, and other high tech crimes until February 2013. SSA Lynd was the Case Agent for the first theft of trade secrets case in Texas; the Case Agent investigating a cyber gang responsible for hundreds of intrusions – including an intrusion into the White House and a denial of service against the FBI’s web page – resulting in millions of dollars of loss; and the Case Agent responsible for obtaining convictions against a local group of counterfeiters whose activities resulted in over $100,000,000 in loss. SSA Lynd successfully investigated: the first case of Bombing and Swatting resulting in prosecutions at the Federal Level; the first corporate hacking case in Texas; the first cyber terrorism case in Texas; multiple intrusions into hospitals, schools, and other parts of the national infrastructure; multiple complex frauds against the telecommunications industry including a five year, multi-state, 19 person conspiracy to commit fraud resulting in convictions of up to 40 years in jail.
In January of 2013, SSA Lynd was selected to be the current North Texas Regional Computer Forensics Laboratory, Lab Director. The Lab is an accredited crime lab and currently includes examiners from the FBI, Dallas, Grand Prairie, Plano, Garland, Richardson, and Frisco Police Departments. The lab services 573 law enforcement agencies in the North Texas region with assistance in executing searches and seizures, providing forensics examinations, courtroom testimony, and classroom training.
